Modeling
I received an Honorable Mention in the 2024 Mathematical Contest in Modeling. The competition involved turning an open-ended problem into explicit assumptions, variables, constraints, and evaluation criteria, then developing a computational model and explaining its results in a technical report.
The modeling process connects problem formulation, algorithm selection, numerical experiments, and sensitivity analysis.
Workflow
- Formulate the problem. Identify the objective, variables, constraints, and key assumptions.
- Construct the model. Choose an interpretable representation and determine the data and parameters it requires.
- Evaluate the solution. Use numerical experiments, comparisons, and sensitivity analysis to examine the conclusions.
- Communicate the evidence. Organize the assumptions, methods, results, and limitations into a structured report.
Teaching
I served as a Teaching Assistant at Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s National Mathematical Modeling Training Camp from June to August 2025.
I mentored students in mathematical modeling, experimental design, and technical report writing, helping them connect a clear problem statement to a testable model and an evidence-based explanation.
